Tom Newby is widely recognised as a Primary School that views participation in cultural activities as an integral component of holistic education. Our school has 3 choirs that always achieve outstanding results at local and international level. Students who would like to participate in this activity will need to pass a singing competency assessment. The Senior choirs are required to ‘write’ a London College of Music Exam in October of each year. A registration fee of R60.0 per child is charged, to parents, for the administration of this exam and entrance into the eisteddfod.
There are two senior choirs that cater to children in Grade 4-7. One of the choirs is a unison choir and the other is a harmony choir.
The Foundation Phase Choir is primarily a unison choir that caters to children in Grade 1-3.
