More children participate in athletics than any other sport offered at Tom Newby School. Athletics includes the following: sprints, hurdles, middle distance, long distance, shotput, long jump and high jump. Most of these components are included in the Smart Sport Programme. Tom Newby School was recently moved from the B league to the A league and the athletics coaches are determined to place in the top 3 positions within the next two years. In 2015, Sihle Maseko, participated at Provincial level and 8 of our athletes competed at the regional D17 Championships.
Grade 1 – 7 learners may participate.
